St. John's Lutheran Homeschool Co-Op
St. John's is proud to provide St. John's Lutheran Homeschool Co-Op, a homeschool co-op currently located in the heart of Bridgeport at St. John's Lutheran Church.
While Lutheran teachings are included in our day, our group is open to any family seeking a Christ-centered learning environment.
About Our Day
We meet Friday mornings from 10:30am-1:00pm. We begin with a Matins prayer service, music time, movement, an enrichment class taught by a co-op parent, lunch, and close with recess. Our program serves as supplemental enrichment learning and social time for homeschool families. Past class topics have covered pollinators, trees, fairy tales, Christian art, and more! We are not a drop-off program and ask that parents be involved in the day. We also take monthly field trips and nature walks for additional experiential learning. Our program is open to all-ages and a nursery class is available.
About our faith and the core tenets of the Lutheran Confession:
While not everyone participating in the Co-Op is Lutheran, these teachings are at the core of everything this Co-Op does:
The Holy Trinity – We believe, teach, and confess the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became man to suffer and die for the sin of all men and to rise again victorious over death and the devil; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith in us through God’s Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Grace Alone – Although all men are sinful and have rebelled against God and do not deserve His love; God’s grace has been finally revealed through Jesus Christ who took up our flesh as a man and died our death to reconcile us back to Himself.
Faith Alone – By His suffering and death as our substitute, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for all men which He now delivers through His Word and Sacraments. Those who hear and believe this Word have this forgiveness and eternal life. God alone is the creator of this faith, and He alone gives us forgiveness through Christ.
Scripture Alone – The Bible is God’s Holy and perfect Word which contains no errors and no falsehood. Through the Bible God reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. The Bible is the sole rule and norm for all Christian teaching, living, and believing.
