"So those who received his word were baptized. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayers."
"We do not abolish the Mass, but religiously keep and defend it. Masses are celebrated among us every Lord's Day and on other festivals. The Sacrament is offered to those who wish to use it, after they have been examined and absolved. And the usual public ceremonies are observed, the series of lessons, of prayers, vestments, and other such things."
The congregation of St. John's gathers regularly for the worship of Jesus Christ. We don't do this because He needs our service, but because we need Him. The divine services of the Lord's Word and the Lord's Supper are at the center of our life together. They are coupled with many opportunities for daily devotion and prayer within the congregation. Christ ministers to us in the Divine Service, calling us to repentance for sin and bestowing upon us His gift of forgiveness. By His forgiveness we learn to live in the freedom of His salvation and the joy of loving service to others.
